Who you'll be working with

Founder-led IT, by design.

Ctrl Alt Rescue is a senior IT operations partner for small and growing businesses — led by Rob Matz, a systems engineer with a decade in managed services and NOC operations. Based in Jacksonville, Florida. Remote across the U.S.

The founder

Hi — I'm Rob.

Ten‑plus years as a senior systems engineer and MSP infrastructure professional — Microsoft 365 / Azure, Windows infrastructure, RMM & PSA, automation, backup, and monitoring. A large part of that has been senior engineering and NOC leadership for SMB and mid‑market environments: reducing alert fatigue, standardizing processes, helping growing teams scale IT cleanly.

I started Ctrl Alt Rescue because most small businesses are stuck in the same gap: they've outgrown "the guy who fixes computers," but they're nowhere near big enough for an internal IT team. The usual options — a cheap MSP that bills like a senior partner, or a consultant who disappears after the project — both leave you worse off.

I'd rather be the option in between: a senior engineer, on retainer, who knows your environment, answers when you call, and is still here next quarter.

How we operate

Calm. Practiced. Documented.

Every engagement runs as a real program — a written runbook, a monthly operational review, a 90‑day roadmap that everyone can see. Tools live in your tenancy: your IAM, your data, your audit trail.

Coverage is honest: business hours with after‑hours on‑call for urgent issues. Not pretending to be a 24/7 NOC. For specialized work I lean on a small bench of trusted contractors — the engineer of record is always me.

What I believe

A short list of operating principles.

  • Outcomes over activity. Tickets closed isn't a metric. Response time, resolution time, uptime, and reduced toil are.
  • Written down or it didn't happen. Every runbook, change, and post-mortem — documented, version-controlled, yours.
  • Long-term partner, not transactional vendor. Break/fix is the lowest form of IT relationship. We're here for the next three years, not the next ticket.
  • Boring is good. Operational maturity is mostly checklists, reviews, and not surprising anyone. We embrace it.
  • Honest about scale. Founder-led today. Trusted contractors for specialized work. No pretending to be a 30-engineer firm — and no shame about not being one.
